Resident Artist Company

The Resident Artists of San Francisco Shakespeare Festival are a core group of actors, designers, directors, and teaching artists who bring their expertise to all of our programs. They uphold SF Shakes' artistic values and serve our mission to provide access to Shakespeare and theatre to everyone regardless of age, ethnicity, financial status, or level of education.

Akaina Ghosh

Akaina Ghosh+ Resident Artist

Akaina trained with One Year Lease and New York Stage and Film while attending Vassar College in New York, where they received a BA in Drama as well as a BA in Philosophy. Akaina is a Resident Artist with SF Shakes, and they recently appeared as Lysander in their 2018 production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Amelia Adams+ Resident Artist

Amelia Adams is a Bay area actor, director, and puppeteer. She is a teaching artist with the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival, Cal Shakes and Circus of Smiles. Favorite credits include Raina Petkoff in Arms and the Man (Spotlighters Theatre), The Mai, and The Lacy Project (Strand Theatre Co). Amelia toured her commedia dell’arte production to both coasts, and premiered her solo production A Mischief of Rats at the SF Fringe Festival. Amelia graduated from Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre and continues to specialize in ensemble based physical theatre.

Anne Yumi Kobori+ Resident Artist

Anne Yumi Kobori is an actor, director, costume designer, playwright, and teaching artist. She is currently playing the title role in Hamlet with Silicon Valley Shakespeare's all-female cast. Previous credits include The Tempest and Othello with Silicon Valley Shakespeare, The Winter's Tale and Hamlet on Tour with SF Shakespeare Festival, and A Message with Arabian Shakespeare Festival. At SF Shakes, she works as the Education Program Manager and costume designs Shakespeare on Tour. She also directed A Little Princesss in a co-production with Los Altos Youth Theatre. and is the Founding Artistic Producer of UTOPIA Theatre Project. Pantoja

Carla Pantoja*+ Resident Artist

Carla directed our 2017-2018 Shakespeare on Tour production of Romeo and Juliet and Assistant Directed our 2017 Free Shakespeare in the Park production of Hamlet. She played Paulina in The Winter’s Tale, Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet, and Kate in The Taming of the Shrew in Free Shakespeare in the Park. She’s performed with Cal Shakes, Shotgun Players, Crowded Fire, Playground, Lorraine Hansberry Theatre, and the SF Mime Troupe in the Bay Area to name a few. Carla is a certified fight instructor and a founding member of Dueling Arts San Francisco. She is a proud member of Playground and a Resident Artist with the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival.

Moore David

David Everett Moore*+ Resident Artist

David is a Bay Area actor and teaching artist. A Resident Artist of the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival, David has performed in numerous Free Shakespeare in the Park productions as well as the SF Shakes School Tour, and has taught in the Midnight Shakespeare program along with other in-school residencies. As an actor, David has worked with several regional and local theaters, including Crowded Fire Theater, Colorado Shakespeare Festival, Marin Shakespeare Company, Word for Word, Just Theater, and Marin Theatre Company. David also teaches with Tomorrow Youth Repertory, and has worked as a Teaching Artist at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. David is a proud graduate of UC Berkeley and its Theater and Performance Studies program.

Maryssa Wanlass*+ Resident Artist

Maryssa is a Bay Area based actor, director, teaching artist, and SF Shakes Resident Artist. Local performance credits include Macbeth (San Francisco Shakespeare Festival), As You Like It, Hamlet, Merry Wives of Windsor (Livermore Shakespeare Festival), Betrayal (Pear Avenue Theatre), Persuasion (San Jose Stage), Crime and Punishment (San Jose Repertory Theatre), Enchanted April, Witness for the Prosecution (Center REPertory Company), Much Ado About Nothing, Good Person of Szechuan (Woman's Will), How I Learned to Drive, Gaslight (Hapgood Theatre Company), Picture of Dorian Gray, All About Eve (Theatre Rhinoceros). As a teaching artist she can be found empowering young women through the Girls' Leadership Institute, giving maximum security inmates a voice through improv acting workshops with Red Ladder Theatre Company, and helping at-risk young adults in West Oakland discover Shakespeare's stories through SF Shakes' Midnight Shakespeare program. David Sarah Shoshana

Phil Lowery+ Resident Artist

Phil is a director, actor, stage manager, teacher, and a proud member of the SF Shakes Resident Artist company, through which he has taught hundreds of children and teens in our Bay Area Shakespeare Camps and Tailor-Made Residencies since 2007. He has performed with Shakespeare on Tour (Macbeth) and Free Shakespeare in the Park (The Taming of the Shrew, Romeo and Juliet and The Winter’s Tale), and with other Bay Area companies, including Shotgun Players, Central Works Ensemble and Lamplighters Music Theatre, where he is on staff. Phil has directed musicals, operas and operettas around the Bay Area for companies such as Altarena Playhouse, Berkeley Opera, Pocket Opera, Lyric Theatre of San Jose, and Lamplighters. This summer, it is his privilege to Assistant Direct the Free Shakespeare in the Park tour of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Morones

Regina Morones+ Resident Artist

Regina is a Bay Area native who's happy to be home again after being away getting a B.A. in Theatre Arts at Clark Atlanta University and completing an M.F.A. in Acting at the University of Iowa. Her passion is to continue to create and be a part of theatre that uplifts the marginalized by planting seeds of hope, tolerance, and change to promote healing and unity in her community. Her professional credits include Silo Tree and Four Stories at the Iowa New Play Festival, The Story of Me & You at The Good Works Play Festival in Atlanta, Meet The Past at the Atlanta History Center, More Than Petticoats at the Tabard Theatre, and Poison Places: Teens Living in the Age of AIDS at the Oakland Ensemble Theatre. Garahan Sean

Sean Garahan+ Resident Artist

Sean is an actor, teaching artist, and performing arts everyman. When he’s not acting he’s either tour managing a rock band, teaching theatre to all ages, or working stage crew at a Bay Area theatre. Sean earned a BA in Theatre from Emerson College in 2008, is an EMC member of Actor’s Equity, and is a Resident Artist with the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival. You can follow what he’s currently working on at seangarahan.com

Will Shattuc HS

Will Shattuc+ Resident Artist

Will Shattuc is an Oakland-born and Oakland-based director, playwright, teaching artist, and graphic designer. An SF Shakes legacy, he got his start at a 2001 camp as Marc Antony wearing a pillowcase, and has since gone on to Assistant Direct The Winter's Tale and serve on the 35 Speeches Committee. He started and runs Oakland Classical Theater Co., dedicated to putting on free work with under-30 artists in Oakland; they have since performed Macbeth and Much Ado About Nothing. He also does the graphic design for a number of companies, including SF Shakes. Will graduated from Hampshire College with a B.A., focusing on ensemble theater and conservation ecology. He is an alumni of the Shakespeare Academy at Stratford, CT, and studied Viewpoints at Divadlo Archa in Prague. His play Voidmother was workshopped at the New Works Lab in Stratford.
